Sailing Into The Sun

The crisp flapping sails flow with the wind
As through the water it speeds
Sweeping the river away with such grace
And all those worries recede

The hand on the tiller feathery light
Feeling the course and the sway
As swiftly the bow cuts through the waves
Racing the first light of day
The spray in my face as quickly I see
The open sea beckoning now
Away to those lands …only in dreams
Before I stood on the prow
Rhythmic sway as she cuts a sweet swathe
Flying so fast with the storm
Thinking of schooners … years now gone by
Long before I was born
